The Peregrine Falcon is the fastest bird on record. Its horizontal cruising speeds can reach 55 mph, but can fly and swoop at speeds reaching speeds much higher (around 65-68 mph). The Peregrine Falcon uses this ability to prey on other birds like pigeons, ducks, and pheasants.
